The concept has been educative, highlighting what a speaker needs to have in mind to deliver a competent speech that resonates with the public. The emphasis on not overestimating audience knowledge, being creative and not technical, among others, are crucial guidelines for informative speakers(Lucas, 2019). Students preparing to become standout speakers must conceptualize all these factors.

In public speaking, one must be mindful of ethical and legal implications of inaccurate or misinformative speaking. For example, inaccurate public speaking about an issue involving a person can lead to defamation, where an aggrieved party may sue the speaker. Such defamation cases may revolve around corruption cases, where a person victimizes people through unsubstantiated information. In other instances, misinformative public speaking may raise ethical questions. For example, President Putin has misinformed Russians that Russias onslaught in Ukraine is a special military operation (Kube and Siemaszko, 2022). As a president, this misrepresents facts, which raises ethical questions about his communication with Russians about the Ukraine invasion. A president carries a huge responsibility to speak truthfully to avoid misleading citizens. For months, Russian soldiers have killed thousands of Ukrainians, making it not a special operation but a killing mission.

My greatest takeaway from this weeks lesson is that public speaking is unique and requires special consideration for the audience. Every public speaker must understand the best way to deliver a speech to ensure the audience conceptualizes the ideas communicated. That means the public speaker must use simple language, explain concepts for understanding and personalize everything to create relevance in the message the speaker is passing.
