comment on this -I do believe that intuition is an adequate method to utilize when making some complex managerial decisions. In my opinion, I feel as though intuition and complex decision making can go hand in hand when it comes to decisions made about customers, reaching their target market, recruiting and hiring for a company and so much more. To make these complex managerial decisions, one must have an extensive portfolio of knowledge, skills, abilities and work to support them being in the position to make these decisions. Additionally, the knowledge and information gained becomes repetition and feedback with it becoming embedded as intuitive learning and used to make fast and effective intuitive decisions thus increasing the chance that the results of that decision may be in favor of the organization's goals and objectives. (Locke,2015) Furthermore, intuitive decisions can lead to failures if prior knowledge is disregarded.
In regard to using prior knowledge, using intuition to drive complex decisions making can only be utilized in certain decision making scenarios such as those that do not warrant credible and structured data or information to decide. For example, a decision regarding how onboarding will go for a company can be made intuitively as the company can relate to their own experiences while also gaining insight from other companies. Additionally, this allows companies to vary their onboarding process through various recruiting, hiring, and orientation procedures ensuring that the companys vision and expectations for their employees' work tenure can effectively lead to their companys goals and objectives. While credible data and information support the unique onboarding procedures adopted by companies, intuitive decision making provides value where credible data does not in the sense that the final outcome will be affected by the new employees feelings about the onboarding process, further supporting the idea that the more intense emotions are for making decisions and their impact, the more they are involved in the decision-making process. This reduces the probability that rational models based on the rational evaluation of possibilities and optimisation will be used.(Gigalova,2017) As a result, careful consideration of circumstances, potential outcomes and other related information is needed in order to make sound and beneficial complex decisions.
Making intuitive decisions can be tricky if ones feelings and emotions regarding company decision making are not mastered or in check. Utilizing intuition as an assessment to decision making can prove valuable as one becomes successful their ego can lead them to make certain undesirable decisions. Intuition provides the company an opportunity to step back and assess decisions where ego may lead to decisions made from fear and resistance to change or new outcomes. With this, those making complex decisions for companies need to be wary of flawed information, short term emotional bias, insufficient consideration of alternatives, prejudice, lack of openness, and inappropriate application.(Conner,2013) Furthermore, intuition serves a valuable purpose in certain decisions being made for a company.
