OVERVIEW

In this assignment you will apply principles of qualitative analysis to examine attitudes expressed related to a controversial topic, Millennials in the workplace. For this phase of the project you will obtain, organize, code, and analyze data. .

INSTRUCTIONS

Please follow the instructions below to analyze comments on Simon Sinek's "Millennials in the Workplace" video. For this assignment submission, you will submit your excel data file (described below) and the Millennials in the Workplace: Data Collection and Analysis Template that describes your findings.

Step One: Watch the Video

  1. Go to the Watch: Simon Sinek on Millennials in the Workplace

Step Two: Obtain and prep your "Comments" data

  1. Go back to the Watch: Simon Sinek on Millennials in the Workplace item found in the Learn section.
  2. Download a set of comments by either clicking and dragging to copy comments or use a comment downloader such as the one. The link to the YouTube Comments Downloader is located on the Millennials in the Workplace: Data Collection and Analysis Assignment page under Millennials in the Workplace: Data Collection and Analysis Resources.
  3. Note that you need at least 100 useable comments for your analysis, so be sure to download more as some (many) will not beuseable.
  4. Decide on your inclusion criteria (what defines a useable comment). Here is anexample:

Inclusion Criteria(example only; you should set your own standards).

  1. Selection set to"newest"
  2. No profanity, sexual, or racistcontent.
  3. Clearly expresses agreement or disagreement withSinek.
  4. Clearly expresses support for or opposition to the opinions expressed bySinek.
  5. "Scrub" your list of downloaded comments. Exclude irrelevant comments and extraneous text (such as names, dates, advertisements,etc.).
  6. Remove hard returns from the individualcomments.
  7. Copy and paste 100 useable comments in an Excel spreadsheet (see the Millennials in the Workplace: Data Collection and Analysis Example Spreadsheet).

Step Three: Analyze and present your "Comments" data

Phase One: Simple Analysis

  1. Using the excel spreadsheet containing your 100 comments, read each comment and place a code in the "Agree/Disagree" column. For example: 1 = Agree; 2 =Disagree
