What are emergent themes for the below comments.

  1. The best part is host did not interrupt him even once. great job.
  2. Ok, I've destroyed my phone, what's next?
  3. I don't know the interviewer, but he did a fantastic job. He just sat there and here him talking. No interruptions. Seems silly, but these days where every interviewer wants to be also the star, is something rare to find.
  4. The problem with this vague definition of a "millennial" is that it leads to calling people that are about to turn 30 "kids."
  5. Anyone else watching this on Facebook from their cell phone in a bathroom stall after excusing yourself from the boardroom?
  6. Am I the only 90s kid that agrees with him and that isn't butthurt about this awful truth?
  7. Isn't it the parents, the predecessors of the millennials that made the world the way it is now, isn't it them who raised the millennials themselves? Isn't that like Frankenstein creating his monster, and then blaming the monster for who and what he is?
  8. Anyone else's mom making them watch this?
  9. Most people are not happy. I don't think it's just millennials.
  10. When people are discussing 'Millennials', they're usually painting an entire generation with an Anerican-upper-middle/upper- white brush.
  11. Simple recipe for creating the worst generation.
  12. For Christ sake. don't you guys get it ? The use of social media, cell phones and technologies are 'OK' period. but but just within your limit. just don't make your life all about it.
  13. When he talks about "friends" canceling if a better opportunity comes up really hit me.
  14. I agree with some of what he's saying. I just disagree with millennials being "entitled". The boomers were entitled and got good jobs just by participating. You didn't need 3 degrees and a masters just to get considered for a position. I actually can't stand it when people try and blame the people with the least power for what's wrong with the world.
  15. Yeah, speaking as a millennial no one promised me shit. I was told I could accomplish anything if I put in the work. I was told not to limit myself and to try and do better. If we seem frustrated it's because my Dad had no degree, had a job doing manual labor, and yet he could afford to buy a house and a car when he was 22 without help from his parents and provide for my Mom who was not working at the time.
  16. People are unhappy because they finally realized they are modern day slaves.
  17. I watched this on my phone. Now I feel conflicted.
  18. Can I just hold up a sign that says "citation needed"?
  19. The nervous chuckle of the audience...
  20. I agree with him until he starts to shift blame to "corporations", or any employer, as responsible for making employees feel fulfilled. That's a cop out, and contradicts a key trait of successful individuals: self accountability. Until you understand that the world doesn't owe you anything, including happiness, you'll likely fall into a loser mindset - blaming others for your problems & shortcomings.
  21. This is probably one of the most unfair assessment of millennials.
  22. Oh please, this continous complaint about the youth. Here is a quote from Socrates (2300 years before now) : "The children now love luxury. They have bad manners, contempt for authority; they show disrespect for elders and love chatter in place of exercise."
  23. I want him to buy me an alarm clock.
  24. Soooooo we're just going to ignore the economy?
  25. I'm a millennial. I made $67,000 last year, after taxes. I work 40-60 hour weeks. I have student loans that I'm almost finished paying off. I have no social media accounts. I've been financially supporting myself since I was 17.
  26. That moment when I can't wait 5 seconds for the ad to finish in front of a YouTube video. He's right. There's no patience.
  27. At times I found this to be honest, at times I found it to be hyperbole. The problem with older generations and the way that they view Millennials is that they think we're all gray crayons in a set of 50 shades of gray (deal with it). They think we all grew up with the same kind of parenting, the same kind of schooling, the same accesses to technology, or the same opportunities, and that therefore we all think the same. Bullshit. And here is how Millennials start hating their own generation and criticizing their peers, when they start believing the myths that have been created by the older generations.
  28. Am I the only person who got annoyed at all the people laughing?
  29. You heard it - Simon Sinek will buy 7 billion alarm clocks.
  30. Dopamine also is generated while eating. No restrictions on that either.
  31. Every video I see where older generations are complaining about millennials they bring up participation awards.
  32. I really enjoyed this video; however, I wish he added the three very important hands millenials are dealt- a bad economy, the cost of living, and student debt.
  33. Gee I wonder why they're not happy: "In 2015, Millennials in New York City were reported as earning 20% less than the generation before them, as a result of entering the workforce during the great recession. Despite higher college attendance rates than Generation X, many were stuck in low-paid jobs, with the percentage of degree-educated young adults working in low-wage industries rising from 23% to 33% between 2000 and 2014. In 2016, research from the Resolution Foundation found Millennials in the UK earned 8,000 less in their 20s than Generation X, describing Millennials as "on course to become the first generation to earn less than the one before"."
  34. There are elements of truth to this, but the people who focus on these things are just trying desperately to avoid confronting the fact that we are the most underpaid, overworked, and de-humanized generation in almost 100 years, a large portion of whom expect to live to see the collapse of civilization. It's much easier for older generations to own up to raising kids with complex psychological issues, than to admit that their own pathologies created real tangible problems for us of massive scale, and that they respond with violence when we speak up about these.
  35. Video: It's not their fault, they were dealt a bad hand.Comment's section: STAHP BLAMING MILLENIALS!!!1!!
  36. What if Millenials are no different than any other generation? What if we keep complaining about the same thing about each new generation using the new technology and the same parenting as reasons for the differences? What if this is a common factor for every new generation? They will also grow up and change like every gen before them perhaps. I ask these questions because I distinctly remember the hate Gen X got. And have seen other articles and studies that support this view.
  37. From my experience, the generational labeling doesn't work if you didn't grow up in the US. I wasn't exposed to participation medals and being told that I'm special. In my background being special was a heavy burden which came with major disadvantages. Does it make "Millenials" applicable only to the US? Because in Europe and Asia kids were exposed to a different kind of treatment.
  38. If you wait (and even skip seasons) just so you can binge at the end of a tv series, is that really "instant gratification"? Isn't that ultimately delayed gratification?
  39. Him comparing dopamine high from social media to alcohol and cigarettes was a bit disingenuous. Those substances have age restrictions, not because of the natural chemical dopamine, but because of the foreign ones: ethanol and nicotine. You also get a dopamine high from everyday things like listening to music, exercise and discovery. Should music have an age restriction?
  40. im so tired of people hating on millennials. Millennials are probably the most hard working generation due to the competition and unstable economy that the baby boomers and generation x created. I have to take classes 4 days a week and work 3 days a week and because of college competition, i need to do an internship, do sports, join clubs, have a great gpa and even after all that I still might not get into a good college. literally who cares about facebook and phone adiction when we have so much more on our plates. At least millennials are the most knowlegeable when it comes to politics and science and technology. what these old people had trouble learning for a decade we grasp in a few months.
  41. Sounds more like he's talking about late millennials and gen z in terms of the phone aspect.
  42. It's always the next generation that sucks! So much negativity toward the next generation.
  43. The "problem" with millenials is that your generation had something to win with patience. Your generation could buy a house in 10 years, then save for retirement other 15 years, in 25 years of work, you were done. My grandfather retired at 40. Today you can see mortgages for 50 years, and retirement? When you retire you will go directly to a nursing home, the house that was never yours will pay for the costs of you living there. You will be alive, that's what the banks and government use to evaluate your life expectancy, but you won't really be alive. So that's the life that the people like me, born after 1984 will have to live. So wherever we find meaning to our lives, has to be with something that will not take our entire lives from us. Be it eating, or traveling, or making an impact, even if it's small.
  44. WOW... lmao this comment section yields itself to all of Simon's major points as it pertains to millennials... entitlement, oversensitivity, poor leadership and rearing, superficiality, lack of accountability, spiritedness, eagerness and desire to make a "difference" and a instant gratification mentality. Lmao... I love this generation tho. Our potential is endless...
  45. I'm 37, but I can understand the millenials. They have no perspective to gain wealth. Hence, there is no point putting one's heart into something. If the job just earns your rent and food, it ain't worth sacrificing for it.When working, one should be able to generate huge savings and acquire a house, a car, be able to pay for a wedding and honeymoon and afford holidays and consumer goods.Nowadays, this ain't possible. So why even bother? I think the blame should not be upon the young folks and neither on their parents. The blame is upon politics and an economy that brought wages down and killed the purchase power.
  46. His comparissons are so vague, oversimplistic and generalizing... comparing social media with the dopamine of alcohol, gambling, smoking, seriously? So if my dopamine comes from sex, excercise or music should still be restricted?
  47. I'm so not against an age restriction on social media.
  48. That's not how dopamine works...PSEUDOSCIENCE alert!
  49. Honestly, older people always complain about the younger generation. This idiot is just trying to sound smart while doing it.
  50. I'm a millennial and a lot of what this guy says is true, if you just check twitter a majority of the millennials have obvious low self esteem problems and plenty of people trying to make a 'difference' just look at this years election lol. People are way to to defensive watching this anyone one being honest with themselves will admit there is a lot of truth to what this guy is saying.
  51. Agree on most points, but he ironically enables the generation he is speaking of by saying "no fault of their own". Part of the problem today is zero accountability. He blamed parents and corporations instead of the individuals, yet he railed about participation trophies.
  52. I love seeing all the triggered ppl in the comments.
  53. Anyone who is browsing these comments I'll sum it up for you: a group of people who agree, a group of people making jokes about watching this on phones, a group of people who think they are more clever than they are by making up shitty arguments to disagree with the guy.
  54. This almost made me cry. I'm a millennial and this spoke to me deeply. And, I am glad he spoke uninterrupted.
  55. LOL, highest unemployment and college costs EVER but millennials are totes entitled.
  56. People talking about millennials annoy me way more than actual millennials.
  57. The problem I have with the "generational" debate is that it is just another way to segment and make generalizations about a group of people. You are stereotyping them without knowing if these things are true and really apply to them. I do agree with Sinek about the damage being glued to your phone causes, but it applies to the ENTIRE population, not just a general group of people. People are individuals. When you stereotype, it limits how you see people and your interactions with them.
  58. Correction: "A subset of Millennials in western first world countries"
  59. Millenial here, 1984, ill tell you all what i think. Millenials are just to damn educated for our own good, because of the technological advances allowing us to literally have unlimited access to info at our finger tips. This can be both a blessing and a curse. We see past all the bullshit and the worlds deceptions and when we speak against it we're perceived as a burden on this "Great Society". We refuse to conform because it simply doesn't benefit us or anyone from any generation, to be frank. But what do i know, im just fishing for likes. Well thats all i got for now, my moms calling me for dinner.
  60. Dopamine is literally released for so many things - discovering new things, making a to do list... I guess those are all now equivalent to an alcohol addiction also??
  61. I have a child born in 1993 I use to play checkers with her when she was a little girl and I never let her win. My family use to give me hell "come on let her win" they would say. They tried to make me feel like a bad parent but I knew better. The first time she actually beat me was the best day for her because she knew she did it on her own. I gave no stickers until she deserved them, no praise for a job not done properly. That's the the way I brought her up I taught her to work for her rewards and today she is a remarkable 23 year old not a MILLENIAL.
  62. He really spoke the truth about (most) of our generation ...
  63. Where can I sign up for me free alarm clock?
  64. This is why there's an important difference between a talented speaker and a factual speaker.
  65. If he's saying millenials are lazy, difficult to work with... Then a lot of companies would just hire older people, and not only that, they would be successful, because if he's saying that about millenials then he thinks older people are not as lazy and difficult to work with. But then, why is it that almost no companies have only older people? And why is it that most of the successful companies are mostly formed by young people? Just asking.
  66. Any time humanity is broken up into these goofy ass "generation labels", its really just thinly veiled ageism.
  67. I feel like he's talking about upper middle-class millenials. Most of us have to work hard because the last generation ruined the economy.
  68. youtube offers hits of temporary dopamine relief.
  69. It is rarely a good idea to characterize an entire generation based on your impressions of the worst of them. Gen X was also labeled as slackers, but I guess Larry Page and Sergey Brin never got the word. There are Millennials that conform to Sinek's stereotyped description, and then there is Mark Zuckerberg and a host of other Millennial entrepreneurs. This week a 37-year old Millennial will interview for the top spot at one of my clients. A 33-year old just took over as the head of a division with about $250 million in sales. Simon Sinek says that he meets college graduates who want to quit because they are not making an impact. He should give me a call. This Baby Boomer will happily introduce him to Millennials who are completely different than his description. I remind myself of this saying when I am tempted top generalize an entire group by the actions of a few: "All Indians walk in single file. I know this is true because the one I saw was doing it this way."
  70. failed parenting strategies
  71. Simon Sinek comes across as a self righteous douchebag, who happens to lack the credentials or the evidence to be taken as more than a joke.
  72. as a millenial: he is partly right, but generalizes and oversimplifies. Literally of my fellow students works 12 hours without any moaning, if they have to. We just realize, that there is no reason to fight, because we fought for 22-27 years and got nothing from it (yeah, going to shool, studying and working shitty jobs for 20 years is demoralizing....)
  73. "Life is amazing even though im depressed" - Spoke my life in one line.
  74. I wish I had 10 friends to send "hi, hi, hi, hi....:"
  75. Blaming it on technology, parenting, and environment.... REALLY? Blame it on the capitalistic bullshit we've been fed since 1970.
  76. 'm confused. Where are all the kids that got into honors classes through parental whining? I never saw any of those. And I wonder where all my participation rewards are. Oh wait, in the garbage where I knew they belonged. Not that I ever had enough to bother counting in the first place. And I recall in high school after our school got second place, being told and agreeing that we basically lost. The people who point out the participation medals haven't actually interacted with any children at all. And I've never been told I can have anything because I want it, I've been taught that because this is america, I can do a lot of things if I want to... work for it. This guy needs to stop looking to social media complaints for his facts.
  77. This guy is describing a very specific and frankly small group of people. Do those people sound awful? Absolutely. Do they make up an ENTIRE generation? Absolutely not! This is completely riddled with generalisations that simply don't stick - some people might exhibit some of those behaviours, but there is not an entire generation of people who exhibit all of those behaviours to the maximum extent. He is yet another uninteresting, unoriginal hack ripping on people younger than him to get a few minutes of fame. Pathetic.
  78. 'm sorry to anyone who is in denial but this guy hit the nail on the head. He is 100% right.
  79. This guy is insufferable. It's sad because he thinks he is being profound but is actually just spouting vague generalizations that any high school student could see.
  80. This whining about the faults of millennials is so misguided. The boomers could support a family of four on one job. Young adults today can't support a family of two on two jobs. The irony is so thick- The generation that had everything handed to them is complaining about the performance of the generation that entered the workforce during the worst recession in a lifetime.
  81. So to summarise the 15 minutes...All he could have said was...Turn off your phone.
  82. He's right. But a lot of this applies to previous generations. My parents are Baby Boomers and hate their f****job and their life and their f****broke. It seems being OKAY with your job is a thousand times better than how my parents feel about theirs. Also they don't have Facebook and they have poor social skills and no friends.
  83. So pretty much everything this guy says is extremely misleading if not flat out wrong.
  84. So..the parents failed to be actual parents, and it's the kids' fault.
  85. Well, this is unmitigated bullshit and this guy is a pompous ass. Oh, yes, at the ripe old age of 43, he's such a sage! Please. Everything he's said here can be applied to his own generation, which, btw is mine as well, and every previous one before us.This guy has simply made a business out of being the old guy bitching about "kids today!". And if the pseudoscientific crapola about social media and dopamine doesn't make you grind your teeth in frustration at yet another instance of quackery being presented to the public as valid...I swear, at the point he spouted off that nonsense, I wanted to put my foot up his ass. That'll give you a hit of dopamine, too; dopamine plays a role in initiating movement. The oversimplification of such a complicated thing as the role of dopamine in the brain really chaps my ass. It is far, far more than just the "addiction" chemical in your brain. Maybe try talking to actual addicts before making such simplistic statements about how "kids" are addicted to social media.
  86. I feel ashamed to hear the truth, but very inspired to change this truth.
  87. And what's the first step to Recovery? accepting the problem, admitting it's a problem, and then striving to correct it. this is the problem with this generation no one wants to take responsibility and admit it's a problem and when it's brought to your attention all of the sudden everyone is "offended".... seriously wake up and take the blinders off the world isn't all sunshine and rainbows it's a struggle day in and day out there is no "EASY" button... blows my mind how people will be so quick to throw this guy and his opinions in the dirt without even trying to analyze his message I'll be the first to say I'm guilty of a lot of the items he touches on and I'm not afraid to admit that... why? because I'm not stupid and I've figured out that I can't just sit on my ass all day and expect a magic fairy to drop a Ferrari in my driveway or a new record deal for a rap career... and if you disagree "cassshhh me ouside how bout Dat"? OK wait I stand corrected we do award idiots who bring nothing to society my bad....
  88. lol this dumb ass thinks our generations can actually get jobs right out of college.
  89. So im spending all my time studying for an engineering degree, i watch netflix from time to time and play games when i want to take breaks, im polite to everyone, i worked my ass off to get into a really good university but it still makes me "entitled"... in the morning i take the train and legit 3/4 of the people (all adults in suits working for big companies) cant get their eyes away from their phones even though they are having a conversation with someone... but no, millenials are the ones always on their phone... this guy's own generation is being brainwashed but he'll never admit that to himself because that would include him into that group of people... the same generation that puts half the kids in middle school on meds because apparently they are all "hyperactive" or have adhd (in quebec anyways its the case).
  90. This guy thinks he's so smart. Really exaggerates so much, builds his argument on top of itself, when the premise of many of his points are lacking, at best.
  91. "impact, whatever that means", are people seriously so out of touch that they have forgotten what it feels like to have purpose?
  92. Soo.. Is the definition of irony the fact that I'm watching this on my phone on YouTube?
  93. Hold on... I don't think he generalized an entire generation quite enough.
  94. We are the wasted youth.
  95. Never seen so much bullshit in15:00mins video
  96. It's not how they were raised, it's now that they're in this world, it's harder to accomplish things than it used to be, and the parents know no better how to help the kids than the kids do know how to help themselves. Things are just harder and more outsourced and monopolized than they used to be.
  97. please stop- generalizing a whole generation.
  98. Anyone who comments that he's "millennial bashing" or "just another millennial basher" did not pay any attention to what he actually said.
  99. 03:00to the left. the blonde thinks she has it all figured out... lol.
  100. the phone addiction is common across all generations. Gen X'ers are just as bad as millennials when it comes to being glued to their phones, and even boomers are, maybe to a slightly lesser extent.
  101. Outsourcing is the cause of a lot of ills the millennial generation faces. Remember the days when you could drop out of high school and work in the factories? Long gone. Now you need a master's degree to do anything and must go into debt to earn one.
  102. How can you talk about the challenges faced by millenials without acknowledging the Global Financial Crisis? That had a much bigger impact on a generation than cell phones or having nice parents.
  103. are people using Facebook because they are depressed or are they depressed because they are using Facebook?
  104. The term "millenials" is just what us adults today use to describe the same thing our parents and grandparents described when they talked about kids. 1970: "kids these days are ..." is the same as 2017: "millenials these days are ..." The truth is it's just a generalization. I know some 24 year-olds who are absolutely nothing like a stereotypical millenial, and I konw some 45 year-olds who are TEXTBOOK milenials. Do you want to know the secret? So called millenials are no more spoiled, entitled, immature, or in search of instant gratification then kids 40 years ago.
  105. its always frustrating to see pseudo scientific hacks twist and use things like brain chemistry or psychology to fit their bullshit. everything he stated about dopamine is so absolutely WRONG i don't even know where to start.
  106. This guy has no idea about the way we're going. Society will only become more dependent on technology and too bad if you think it's an addiction.
  107. you left out the horrible education they get. propaganda, changing history, leaving things out.
  108. Tip 1 for making relationships : Shot your coworker father in the leg. Then ask your coworker how's your father, I heard he is in hospital..
  109. Every generation: "The children now love luxury. They have bad manners, contempt for authority; they show disrespect for elders and love chatter in place of exercise." - Socrates
  110. Here's what guys like this tool don't understand:

Millenials watched the world crumble around them. The economy collapsed as they came of age and all most millenials have to show for years of college is now crushing debt, wages don't match cost of living and more people live in poverty than ever in this country. They want to be guided carefully through their day to day work because the slightest threat of failure, of being reprimanded or demoted or fired, is a threat of homelessness and death. For Boomers it would have just been a threat of inconvenience until you walked right in to some other job and got hired. Today, losing your job can be final.

  1. what this guy really wants to do is bone a 19 year old.
  2. He's right but he doesn't strike at the root of what's caused these conditions.
  3. It really bothers me that people will so nonchalantly parrot what someone else has says. "Millenials are entitled. They're lazy. They have no social skills." The second they see some of this behavior on display, people will be quick to jump all over the story and say, "SEE? Look at this entitled millenial. Classic." I think that saying "Millenials are lazy/entitled" is a gross generalization that is mostly confirmation bias. For every lazy or childish millenial you see, I guarantee there at least 4 others that work their asses off. Millenials have tons of debt.....you can't NOT work hard to pay that off.
  4. As I watch this on my phone.
  5. Mr. Sinek is painting with a broad brush. He had a preconceived conclusion, and steered his discussion towards that end, ignoring all else. His supporting data is all anecdotal. People want instant gratification? That mindset came from the corporate world. So, at the end, he correctly asks corporations to fix the problem (employees), but his fix just makes better drones, still marching towards fast profits. A better fix would be to change the corporations' goal, and how they arrive at that goal.
  6. love this. I am a millennial and a parent and parent with traditional values, morals and disciplines- my son will not be a product of entitlement and laziness and no consequences.
  7. After listening to him I'm shocked to admit that as for me he is right about the studies and job fulfillement, I like what I'm studying but it's "fine same as yesterday". This man is incredible really convincing and easy to listen to.
  8. He just cured my depression. I promise.
  9. this has got to be the most bullshit I've ever heard spewed out of someone's mouth. Catering toward's brain-dead baby boomers.
  10. he young people are not the problem. They are the solution. If you're not empowering them to fix this, then sit down; look pretty!
  11. Dear Simon, my alarm clock was 26 dollars at Costco. You owe me 26 dollars. Thanks.
  12. 1984 here. I always sucked at sports and never got my participation medals or trophies. Where can I claim them? XD.
  13. A lot of you don't believe that parents can be responsible for developmental issues in their children later on in life. Saying that Simon is shifting blame to "external factors" (although I DO believe that one is capable of changing this behaviour, given the right resources) I strongly believe that Parents can have great influence on the development of ones idiosyncrasies, beliefs and attitudes in life and in turn contribute to a variety of issues Millennials face when they are in the "real world". Take for example that a person in the middle east may believe its inherently wrong for women to show their hair and skin in public, whereas in western countries it's considered quite normal. What I believe Simon is saying the problems we complain so abundantly about in Millennials can reduced significantly if we teach them correct principles from HOME.
  14. Good talk! But don't put all in the same bag! People are individually different!
  15. A few truths dressed up in nonsense. He keeps referring to kids. The oldest millennials are in their mid thirties now. If anything millennials are more self confidant. He seems to be more talking about Generation Z.
  16. Eating cheeseburgers also releases dopamine. Let's just age restrict that. Having sex releases dopamine. But oh no, dopamine is addictive. Let's just stop having sex and watch the human race die out.
  17. I think he gets the cause and effect the wrong way around. Many things can be used as an escape mechanism when one doesn't know how to make meaningfull connections with other people. No happy person is going to turn into an alcoholic just because they happened to try it once as a teenager. They turn to it because it's their last option - because they have been mistreated and deprived of connections throughout their childhood and earlier years. So the real question is, what's causing people so much stress these days anyway? Could it be linked more to the skyrocketing rates of single parenthood and divorce? Or the increasing gap between modern educational resources vs what one is forced to consume for many years of their lives in government schools? Or that workplace regulations are making it harder for teenagers to have the sense of achievment and self reliance that comes from starting their careers before the age of 20?
  18. the truth hurt but he is 100% right (i am a millennial).
  19. I think people fail to realize it's not just the millennial generation that does this, everyone's gone through this they just choose not to recognize that they had the same experiences so they can feel better about themselves.
  20. I thought this was going to be a millennial bashing but he made it clear that it wasn't the millennials fault for being born in a time where technology began rapidly increasing. Great job on finding a good balance.
  21. Unrelated note: if you agree or disagree with him you have to admit he has such a puchable face.
  22. I'm a boomer, and this guy just gave me the tools whereby I can understand a generation that is not always depicted correctly in the media. Loved this.
  23. It's insane that so many logical fallacies can pass for brilliance.
  24. Vietnamese way: you put your cell phone on the table, whose wife calls first paying for all.
  25. Makes total sense.
  26. 13:20I guarantee that only 3 of the people who laughed actually knew what magnanimous meant.
  27. Hmm millennials are 'entitled' AND have low self esteem that makes sense.
  28. This is a Historic Lecture. Each Second worth.
  29. So off topic, but doesn't Simon look like Edward Snowden?
  30. Good comedy, like caricature, exaggerates traits for effect.
  31. I love how he says we grew up with failed parenting strategies but his generation is responsible for that.
  32. For all the people bashing on millennials, you guys have to look at the facts and not generalizations made by someone.
  33. The fact that so many people actually believe this crap is what is truly alarming. Studies after studies prove this type of thinking to be completely wrong and yet when jackasses continue to perpetuate these lies they get applauded.
  34. see many millenials here just proving how Simon is right.
  35. He's an idiot. He has so many false logical leaps. this is idiotic.
  36. I'm watching this on my phone during dinner with my friends.
  37. Simon, somehow this is the first time I do not agree with you. I am a "millennial" who grew up with a biological father telling her that she would be "poor, just like your mum", and not that I can "achieve everything I want".
  38. This guy is great. I've never heard it expressed so clearly, with wit - yet with compassion.
  39. I was born 2001 and everything that he says Peirce's through me straight in and out.
  40. I'm a millenial apparently. This world is rugged. You gotta work hard for what you want and not give up because there's a bump in the road. The world isn't gonna hand you anything for free. You just have to have patience. It's a race that you may never see the end of. That's why you must enjoy the journey. Sometimes life will feel like shit and you're stuck in an endless pit of hell and sometimes it will feel great like you're on top of the world sometimes it'll feel like you're stuck in a freaking limbo juggling the world on your back trying to make decisions . You aren't entitled to anything. You earn it.
  41. Sinek uses personal opinions instead of facts or studies. Quite useless interview to be honest, just a random guy with just another random opinion.
  42. Well, Gen X had AIDS and heroin. I'm fine with FB, thanks.
  43. Im just here for the free alarm clock.
  44. Millenials will be a greater generation than the boomers ever were. We won't outsource the entire country or act like a bunch of racists bigots. Bunch of cocaine drug using hippies.
  45. Wow! Yes, I believe this is true. I am so sad. But. Im glad I grew up without these stupid electronic devices. I fear for the future generations.
  46. I disagree with a lot of this. He throws the whole generation into an issue ridden society. When I sit and talk with "millennials" I really try to get into their brain and see if the stereotype is real. I just don't see it. I talked recently with my son's friends about this, and most all are "go getters" wanting to achieve at higher levels. One reason is the later part of Millennials went through the financial disaster and feel scared not to do better.
  47. This is all well-intentioned nonsense, like so many critiques of millennials. Mr. Sinek is committing the same category error of lumping 'an entire generation' of people of highly diverse economic, religious & social backgrounds into one box called 'millennials' - and everything he says sounds quite convincing. He even mentions dopamine and socialization and all these sciencey words! How great. There's a problem though.
  48. I usually enjoy Simon Sinek. This video I'm completely appalled at. Yes, I'm a millennial, though probably on the iffy side of that label as I was born in the early 80s. Not only did Inotexperience half of the things he is talking about, but this video also misses the mark on technology in general.
  49. Widespread internet use has been around for younger people's entire lives.
  50. What do you mean I can't have it just because I want it? BUT I WANT IT!!!
  51. i feel like everything he mentioned other than the narcisism is just a result of bad parenting... i know plenty of millenials who where raised properly and dont have these negative traits.
  52. the 945+ dislikes are from millennials who didn't understand a word he said.
  53. He was sounding ok up until the part where he starts talking about the companies were responsible for teaching them those skills they are missing.
  54. I'm 48 and I see something very positive in the millenial generation. Many of this generation are concious of the environment, many are vegetarians and vegans, many are not materialistic and they refuse to be enslaved by corporations. All non millenials can learn a lot from this generation. I have high hopes for you guys and girls and I hope you will make a positive well needed change in the world.
  55. This seems to be an American problem.
  56. Spoiled brats and lazy asses are nothing new. The so called entitlement millennials is right propaganda to keep people thinking that's something is wrong. More and more kids go to college today.
  57. I can really relate to all the things he is saying.
  58. Literally started tearing when he talked about the worse case scenarios...its allll true.
  59. I've never seen this much patronizing before.
  60. Oh look, another middle aged person complaining about the younger generation. Groundbreaking!
  61. This video made me sad. I fall in this demographic, and what he is saying is exactly the same sentiment I've had growing up. I don't talk about it either because I feel like it's my own shortcoming, and I'm still reluctant to believe in this sentiment. I'm suspicious about how much of my life is self determined against chaoticness.
  62. So to summarise the 15 minutes...All he could have said was...

Turn off your phone.

  1. As a millennial my mother made me watch this video as to enlighten me about the evils of technology and tell me how it's taking over our lives. But it has told me that our parents treat us as special and we're not because ,I've been through that I can understand that as the truth though I don't agree with the video branding us all as lazy people who believe they can get whatever they want without work. Some of us have a different mindset.
  2. He seems like one of those ill say stuff thats not necessarily true but buy my e book.
  3. The fact that anyone would listen to whatever the hell Simon Sinek (or just about any other motivational speaker) says is beyond me. What the hell has this guy done exactly? Let's see him lead a team, build a company, etc. He writes books about leadership but I don't see too many examples of him leading anyone. Talk is cheap. As for the people that listen to motivational speakers, cut the crap; nobody can motivate you, you have to motivate yourself.
  4. This societal disconnect makes total sense. Millennials are not okay with old paradigms. But, honestly, I don't think that's a bad thing. Corporations and governments don't have the control, manipulation, and persuasion over the populace like they used to. I don't think old cultural paradigms are superior. It's the Millennial generation that is demanding equality and justice across all classes. I think we are headed in the right direction and I think it's the Millennial who will be blazing the way.
  5. This hasn't aged well. Turns out millennials just didn't buy into working yourself to death for someone else and not having a life. Good for them, and hopefully Gen Z turns out to be even more "lazy and entitled" to not giving up their life so some jag-off can spend a few minutes in space.
  6. Instant gratification is the #1 problem. Everything we want, we get. When we don't get it, we explode. It's brilliant that at a click of a button we have 90% of things we need to our disposal. But that 10% is killing us.
  7. This dude is a genious.
  8. The first and the greater "ok boomer"
  9. The phone thing was telling. My wife and I went to restaurant near a college campus. There were mostly college kids there and when we looked around we noticed that They were mostly on their phones sitting together at the tables. They were barely talking to each other.
  10. I agree that near constant gratification could be extremely distracting and detrimental.
  11. Instant Gratification what about the baby boomers ?
  12. You need to blame the generation of parents. Parenting!
  13. How do companies provide an opportunity to teach these skills (or change their cultures) when they are, most of the time, run by individuals from the same generation who failed to teach these skills to this generation while they were growing up - their parents?
  14. What hot boomer garbage is this?
  15. Millennials are the most educated generation to date and the most digitally competent, people cry about them yet log into apps like Facebook every day created by them, this video is dumb.
  16. I'm 16, this could not be true. No one wants to work hard any more. No one wants to take responsibility. The world doesn't seem inviting anymore. More and more of us are struggling with depression. Pick something and work hard! I have 1000+ Instagram followers! I wasted so much time promoting this false image. I don't use Twitter anymore and I hardly use Facebook.
  17. This guy is a quack. I hate working because the wages are awful, I get no mandatory vacation, no insurance, and my retirement will be non existent thanks to baby boomers.
  18. Ok another one mixing millennials up with generation z.
