Connect the IR Sensor to the Raspberry Pi, VCC to the 3.3V, Gnd to Gnd and out to a general GPIO pin. On the Raspberry Pi, write a C program that polls the pin to indicate if an obstacle is present or not, print this out ("Clear" or "Obstacle") in an infinite loop. Have a signal handler to catch Ctrl-C, clean up and cleanly terminate the program.
