Consider the different verbal and nonverbal communication methods you learned about this week. Verbal communicationis the expression of ideas or feelings through words and includes speaking, reading, and writing. Nonverbal communication is the expression of information without words, including nonverbal gestures, facial expressions, posture, and distance. Communication often involves a mix of verbal and nonverbal aspects, such as writing, speech, visual presentation, audio, or nonverbal cueing.

Think of someone who you consider to be an excellent communicator and answer the following questions.

• How does this person effectively use different methods of verbal communication? Provide an example.
• How does this person effectively use different methods of nonverbal communication? Provide an example.
• Which communication method do you feel you could improve upon the most, and how could you go about doing that?
