Consider the following case study of UTP in purchase department. The procurement activities in organizations typically involve critical decisions made by purchase managers. In order to make a good decision, they need to assess certain relevant criteria or attributes. Procurement decision-making faces several challenges such as selecting the best vendor with the right mix of product, price and method to procure it. While making such decision you need to depend on either statistical tools or mathematical models. which is the technique that identified as the foundation on which to build a decision support system for procurement decisions in the Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS (UTP), Malaysia as a case study. The purchase department of UTP got enough experience in purchase of air-conditioned machines of window and split types. For the past five years they bought nearly 500 machines from the reputed dealers of Daikin, Samsung, etc. The purchase department is interested in designing a decision support system from which they are interested in purchasing some additional 150 split type air-conditioned machines of specific capacity (2 KG). The design task is assigned to you. UTP has received 40 quotations from various dealers to supply their product. The details like price, warranty, delivery time, discount, credit period, service quality, reputation of the company, power consumption, noise level and dimensions of product were listed in the quotation. Based on the information provided to you. Design a suitable database, by having database structure, description of the table and FIVE (5) sample data. Design a suitable model base, which consists of model identification, description of the model, attributes and weights.
