Your current boss has resigned and has been grooming you to take his$/$her place. Even the HR is supportive of this initiative. You are very hopeful and preparing for this for quite some time, looking forward to take this challenging position in the near future.

A week before your boss is leaving, executive management decided to hire an outsider from a rival company to take over the position that your boss has been training you for.

To make matters worse, you know this person and have worked with him$/$her before. You do not like this person for a number of reasons, both on the personal and professional level. In fact, this person has a notorious reputation in the industry.
