cos() = cos cos sin sin

and sin() = sin cos cos sin .

Consider the above two formulas to obtain the cosine/sine double angle formulas:

cos 2 = cos2 sin2 = 2 cos2 1 = 1 2 sin2

and sin 2 = 2 cos sin .
