QUESTION 1 (20 MARKS) A western based multinational company that manufactures soft drinks wanted to start their factory in one of the developing countries. They got license and permission and they built their factory according to the law. There, the version of the soft drink was produced with their local regulations but actually the quality is exceptionally low compared to that same made in Europe where the law is stricter. The company is obeying the law of the land, but it is selling a poor-quality product which is less healthy as a product in a developing country. Also the factory uses the natural water that flows in the river which is used for drinking and agricultural purposes. The chemical waste of the company released is also very harmful for animals, plants creating air pollution too. The company make huge profits and spend for the education of the poor and provides health care services for the community and their workers. In spite of repeated complaints the govemment is refusing to take action sighting the reasons that the company provides employment for 100,000 people and pays all taxes to the government.
