Qualitative data collection is one of the most difficult forms of collecting primary data for a research project. The challenge is because there are many methods of collecting qualitative data but we will focus on a couple of the most popular forms. The variety of qualitative methods do require that the researcher select the appropriate one that will answer the research questions. In management research, language data is used to gain insight into social and organizational realities. To discover opinions and perceptions is best done through interviews.

Qualitative research requires the collection of a considerable amount of information that tells a story that is convincing to others. Management research requires well referenced and balanced interpretations, along with a clear understanding of how the analysis was completed and how the conclusions were reached.
