Create 3rd-5th grade level math stations around place value standards.

Station Requirements:

1. Prior to beginning the math stations, students should be engaged in a whole group activity that supports their understanding of place value.
2. Your stations should include 4, no more than 5 activities. When teachers plan too much, the learning experience can be less effective. Be intentional about your instruction! My point is, plan a few rigorous activities. It's all about quality, not quantity.

• • There should be a teacher -lead station,
  • a technology station that allows students to work with digital math games, videos, etc. (Khan Academy, MobyMax, IXL, etc.),
  • a station that encourages students to use manipulatives (this could be your teacher station to ensure your students are properly using the manipulatives to support their learning),
  • an independent work station, and
  • a fluency station (i.e. math game that helps them quickly identify place values).

Be thorough in your explanation about how students are to progress through the stations: will they visit one station per day, two stations per day, etc? Also, provide resources and activities for each station the students will experience. Describe the type and purpose of manipulatives, digital tools/resources, etc.
