Creating a Server Backups & Recovery Points

Working with Windows Server backup, Server Recovery, MSConfig, & Safemode. Along with Windows Utilities: sfc /scannow, chkdsk, an diskpart

One of the primary responsibility of server administrator is to maintain an on-going log of system and application backup, more importantly restore point in the event of server or application crash or catastrophic event!!!

Specifications: in order to meet these objectives requires tools and utilities Windows Server OS provides along with utilities available to provide error-correction via disk-sectors, identifying disk, and partitions.

Additional Storage device needed!

Use Disk management to format the disk! Bring online, Initialize disk, and format NAME IT e.g. (TravisRecovery)! All for Server Recovery!

Windows Server backup Tool create a full backup, save to an second storage

Perform Scan File system check Self Healing!

Rescan

List disk

Select disk <----- choice

List partition

Select partition <----- choice

List volume

Select volume <------ choice

Recover

Exit, Exit and Click Use a device

Click Use a Device

Review choices, Click on nvme

Using MSCONFIG Safe Mode

Load basic & devices only

Change Boot option to safe mode with default options!

Restart

Using Powershell perform Chkdsk /? Locate bad sectors and recover readable information, Yes run at next startup. Perform Chkdsk /? Display the full path and name of every file on the disk.

Exit

Exit Safe Mode Hint dont forget to disable Safe Mode in MSCONFIG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Local Disk C$\Program Files

Recover Destination Right over the existing C$\Program Files, and Overwrite the existing versions with the recovery versions

Very Server has a SWAP Space ---- GRUB ldr may be looking for one!

Furthermore Determine Account status "Administrators vs Regular Users" Which determines value range of UID's for Regular users starts at 1000! goes to 60000!
