Linear regression can be applied to learn about the different interests in varied regions of a country. For example, they could have specific sales throughout the year but target specific regions of the country susch as, Southwest, West Coast, East Coast, etc. The data they gather from each of the different years can be used to determine which region of the country did better with different sales. With this information the firm would be better able to market different products to different regions of the country depending on how well certain sales did according to each region in that year. Linear regression should always be applied with a sense or morality. In the VAM example, all other qualifications of a teacher were neglected and only the test scores of students were taken into account. In a way, this is immoral because it neglects the qualities of the teacher that would have merit in other comparisons. An example of limiting linear regressions in an applied bussiness setting would in cases where oversimplification would be counterproductive. A firm could conlcude that the Southwest region as a whole favors one product over the other, but there are other factors to consider, such as what age group the data was accumulated from
