Data Set 2

The professor teaches two classes, one in the morning and the other in the afternoon. To facilitate a comparison of the two classes' performance on the exam, he prepared the data table below (A = morning, B = afternoon).

Excel Data Set 2 Descriptive Statistics

1. Open a new workbook in Excel and enter Data Set 2 on the first page.
2. Select the scores for the morning class.
3. Click Data on the toolbar at the top of the screen.
4. Click Data Analysis on the far right of the Data toolbar that opens.
5. Select Descriptive Statistics.
6. Enter the input range in this format [First data cell in a column such as "A1"]:[Last data cell in a column such as "A30"]
7. Any empty cell on the page can be entered in the Output Range box, such as "G2." This is where the analysis will appear.
8. Select Summary Statistics.
9. Click OK.
10. Excel will generate a complete set of descriptive statistics for the selected data.
11. Repeat steps for the afternoon class.
12. Save the workbook with the file name "[Your last name] Project 1 Data Set 2 Descriptive Statistics" and submit the file.
13. If there are issues that prevent you from calculating the descriptive statistics in Excel, you can calculate them using this online statistical calculator(Links to an external site.). Submit a PDF of the output page. You can do this by selecting the output pasting it into a Word document, and save it as a PDF. Follow the file name instructions in #12.
