Keith Chambers was an exchange intern from France working for the summer in a large corporation. As he became integrated into the system, he began to come to work at random times in the morning. Fran, his supervisor, spoke to him twice about the importance of coming in on time and Keith's apparent indifference to his responsibilities, but he continued to arrive late to work. Once he offered the explanation that in France, people more, or less came and went at will. Fran explained that this was not her experience with their French counterparts and that Keith was to arrive promptly at nine o'clock. Keith did not make any attempt to comply. Fran wondered if she should send Keith directly back to France or work with him to improve his attitude.
