This week we are deep diving into SEO and SEM. I have added a bunch of links from Google on the basics of paid search and an overview from Neil Patel on SEO. Watch those first before you try to do any of this week's work. I would also recommend if you are serious about working in media today, you take the time to become Google certified and or IAB certified. They both offer courses and certificates that will really help you set yourself apart at an interview.
For this week's assignment, you will look behind the curtain of the Orangetheory website. For this exercise move through the various pages of the site and pay close attention to the keywords and content types you are seeing. Identify at least 10 keywords/phrases that you think are important that are embedded in the content and give a short explanation (two sentences) for each as to why these may be important to this brand. In addition, search for each of these theywords and see where Orangetheory shows in the SERP. Screenshot each of these placements and add them to your document.
Look closely as there are important keywords that are beyond the basics you will see that have been identified as huge opportunities for both organic and paid growth. Think about the way you would search for fitness-related keywords. It is a fitness brand so your keywords and terms should be in the fitness genre. If it doesn't look like a fitness term when you search for it, it probably isn't one. You are not allowed to use Orangetheory or the word Fitness as part of your submissions or repeat keywords in multiple different terms.
3 keys to success to use as you go:
Is the word or phrase something you would use to search for a fitness solution or is it brand speak or marketing copy.
Did you reuse words more than once? That is not allowed.
Did you use the two forbidden words? Also not allowed.
You can submit either a powerpoint presentation or a word doc but make sure you show the screen grabs in whatever choice you make for your submission.
