Why do it?

Classroom teaching philosophies help guide all aspects of a teacher's practice in and out of the classroom. It is a way to organize your teaching methods and practices. The development of a philosophy also helps teachers clearly define the type of learning environment they will create for children and families.

How to do it?

You should write your teaching philosophy in first-person present tense. You want others to know your personal beliefs are based on being a reflective practitioner and your ideas are supported by best practices. To help you develop a strong inclusive philosophy, you will utilize two different peer reviewed articles to support some of your beliefs about learning, teaching and child behaviors.

Your philosophy should consists of the following sections:

Remember that you have learned a lot of information up to this point in the course. You should draw on prior knowledge to help you develop a strong and well articulated personal classroom philosophy. This assignment is asking you to use high-level thinking to develop that cohesive philosophy. Please, use the very detailed rubrics to help you navigate through this assignment.
