Question:
Development of a comprehensive Three-Year Technology Strategy for a technology-based company/SBU chosen by each individual. The individual's assignment is to recommend a strategy to gain a sustainable competitive advantage in the firm’s industry. The strategy should be clear, concise, flow logically, and hopefully introduce some new ideas and thinking that will improve the competitiveness of your company or SBU and lead them to
a) the adoption of emerging technologies or
b) the pursue of creating a new technology.
INSTRUCTIONS: Your project writeup should be a document containing a comprehensive Three-Year Technology Strategy for a technology-based company/SBU specified in your approved project proposal. Here is the recommended outline for your project writeup: Cover. Regular college level cover page that includes title, date, student info, and course info, etc. Abstract. A 200-300-word overview of the paper. Here is an example of how to write a good abstract (or summary). This is the last part you will do. You see, usually you will finish the paper and then you come back to this part and write the overview of the paper. Introduction. Describes your motivation for doing this particular technology and this particular company, and outlines the rest of the paper. Background and/or Related Work. Describes what other people/researchers in the subject area have done with the technology, how they originally dealt with the its implementation or development, and how they perhaps are wrong, right, or maybe even be improved. Three Year Plan. This is the most important part of your project. Here you need to be creative on how to present your plan. You can do it, yearly, by semester, quarterly, and even monthly, as you see fit. For example you could use subsections as follows: Year 1: Analysis and Engagement Explanation of what you plan to achieve 1st quarter: Preparation of X Explanation of what you plan to achieve and how to measure it, what procedure you will follow, etc. 2nd quarter: Execution Y in A, B, C Explanation of what you want to get done, any graphs or measurements, etc. 3rd quarter: etc. etc. Year 2: etc. etc. I think you get the point, feel free do add as many subsections as you want, and even a graphical abstraction of your plan if you want. Discussion and/or Analysis. Examines your technological transformation plan under different perspectives and draws some conclusions about their significance for the company under study, society and individuals. Conclusion. Concludes the paper by giving a summary of your most important points, and giving some final thoughts as to future work and things you wish to experiment later on, if any. References / Bibliography. Gives properly formatted references to text books, and any other scholarly work, that this work is built on. Note that the references should be scholarly, which means things like refereed conference and journal articles, or serious technology blogs, and other serious leadership blogs. Notably, this rules out referencing most websites. I recommend using sholar.google.com. Again, this is a general outline, but other creative ways of doing this project are welcome. However, the following requirements must be remembered: This paper has to be written in 12-point Times New Roman font (for the main text, but can vary for headings and subheadings as appropriate). The paper will be 3500 to 4500 words not considering the cover, nor the bibliography/references page. Supporting graphics/images/pictures or tables are encouraged and may be counted as part of the 3500 to 4500 words. Once your paper is finished, write a 200-300-word abstract (or summary), and put that at the beginning of your paper. Here is an example of how to write a good abstract (or summary).
