Difficulty forming a conclusion...

A summary of the data analysis and the conclusions can form as a result. Was the hypothesis correct? What can be determined about the research question?

  • How can bias have affected the data. (Sample size, etc.)
  • How could the research be more accurate and precise.

Topic Proposal Topic : The Similarity Between Working and Nonworking Students Academic Success.

Why? : The reason I chose this topic was that I was always fascinated by the connection between working and nonworking students as well as the effect of employment on academic success.

Topic Question : If a high school student is unemployed, will they have better grades? (I will use a survey to compare employed and unemployed students and their average marks in school.)

Hypothesis : Students who do not work will have more sufficient time to complete their assignments, therefore will further have greater educational success in school, contributing to a better class average.

SurveQuestions :

1. Are you employed?

yes/no

2. How many hours a day do you work on your school, on average, everyday?

3. Have you ever crammed for a test or an assignment?

yes/no

4. What is your current grade average?

Sample : My sample is my old class of semester 1. I emailed all of them with my survey. And this is what I have compiled. The sample differs from my secondary research since the range is different. Indeed, my secondary data research relates to university students yet, I am observing this phenomen with Highschool students.

Type of Data: The type of data is quantitative data in the form of discrete data because it is showing the number of students and their grade average.

How I distributed my Survey :

I distributed my survey via email. Most of my classmates, more than 75%, answered the survey. Therefore I think I did a good job at distributing it. However, since it is not a 100% of my class, there might be a small margin of bias.
