Article critiques are common assignments in many classes as they are a great way for you to practice your strategic readings skills (also covered in the Week lecture) in relation to reading research articles. A skill that will come in handy as you deal with the literature review portion of your dissertation. In addition, being asked to critique a research article, means becoming more familiar with both qualitative and quantitative research approaches, the tone and style in which research is written up, and whether the researchers have actually done a good job with how they designed and reported their study. All of this will help you become more aware as you begin the work for your own study. Therefore, for this week's assignment, you are asked to find a quantitative research article you are interested in and critique it by answering each of the questions listed below individually--i.e., do not worry about turning it into a paper, just answer each questions listed here separately: 1. Briefly describe the methodology featured in the article. Was it easy to understand the methodological design, and was it well justified? Explain why/why not with input from the Qualitative Design and Analysis lecture and/or this summary of quantitative research design and analysis. 2.
