It also exaggerates that the metabolic rate drops by 13% per each unit core body temperature drop.   • The article exaggerates the percentage of students behind their current grade level by focusing on the improvement of student education and leaving only a single sentence to compare student performance to pre-pandemic levels. Similarly, the article spends the last two-thirds of it focusing on public school tutoring programs, only to leave a parting statement that only about 10% of students are receiving the tutoring recommended. It does not go into detail on why the tutoring levels are so low, whether from student disinterest, funding challenges, tutor availability, or lack of advertisement. Lastly, the article does not clarify if the recorded data was measured against the pre-pandemic standards or if the data is measured against what the students spent time learning in the 2021-2022 school year as they worked to make up for the lost education opportunities.

  • The consumer may blame the students for not learning what they are taught. Even though the data may be skewed toward study habits and curriculum that do not include any lessons that were not properly learned from home during the pandemic. They may also blame the teachers for not teaching enough, regardless of there still being only so many hours in the day. Lastly, they may be driven to push for a specific political goal, such as mandated tutoring for students, regardless of tutor or student availability. Regardless of any possible plans or decisions, consumers should be prepared to consider all possibilities.
