Discuss some practical ways to apply the Model the Way concept to improve leadership skills.

Leadership and management have been some of the key areas of importance in my personal life and my professional life. After being in the Army for $12$ years, I saw the direct correlation that bad leadership and good leadership has on soldiers. Morale, mood, trust, teamwork and development can all be monumentally catapulted up with good leadership or driven straight into the ground with bad leadership. To me$,$ Model the Way, means to lead by example. Leading by example in the areas I provided last week shows the team$/$employees and even non$-$work$-$related personnel that I have high standards for myself, and I want those positive qualities to be passed on so that they can model the way for themselves in the future. Ethics and values aren't just words to me$,$ I live by them as they were critical for me to be the best leader I could be in the Army. Ethics and values are what guide me to do what's right, legally and morally, when people are around or not. Do what's right and good for the sake of it because if you have a chance to influence someone else, you want to make sure that it is unwavering commitment. As I stated above, ethics and values are what ensure I am making the right decision, legally and morally, so that I am making the best possible outcome for everyone, not just myself. The team that works together, succeeds together. I have seen leaders, when I was in the Army, compromise their values and do things that were unethical and being in such a ethic and value$-$oriented job, those people did not succeed. Soldiers learn and emulate what they see, as do civilians, and being the best version of a leader, they need can ensure that they will emulate the best of what's expected and make sure that future leaders can be the best versions of themselves. Lead from the front, do what's right and never waver in your commitment to yourself and others.
