discuss whether you notice any trends amongst in terms of what you all find to be the most and least effective digital platforms. What do you think is impacting the similarities or differences?
Hello everyone,
One brand that I am loyal to is Designer Shoe Warehouse (DSW) because I buy almost all of my family's shoes there. They always have a wide selection of shoes and usually have good sales which is great with 5 kids! DSW has an expansive website, a mobile app, and they are on several social media platforms. They have the largest following on Facebook where they mostly showcase shoes with great pictures, but they also make some relevant posts, for instance about Women's History month; and their Instagram account has the same content. Customers can also shop through Pinterest, and they have Twitter, TikTok, and LinkedIn accounts, as well as a YouTube channel, which is mostly short advertisements. I noticed that the last post they made on Twitter was July 2022, so I wonder if they realized it was not a good channel for them. Their content on TikTok seems to be of lower quality but more personal. DSW has good engagement on most of the platforms, and they are responsive to questions and complaints.
I am signed up for VIP rewards which is wonderful because I always get free shipping, the points are easy to earn, and I frequently get discounts. The mobile app lets me know when sales are going on or when I've earned enough points to redeem a reward (I get notices every week about sales), and since I use the app for all of my online shopping, it is definitely the most effective platform for me and has strengthened our relationship by repeatedly bringing me back. If I ever go to the physical store and they are out of a size, I just order through the app. I also get emails every day, which can be a bit of a nuisance, but sometimes one will catch my eye with a big sale. I don't follow DSW on any social media except Facebook, but it is the least effective in reaching me. I usually don't see their posts unless I actually go to their page. I believe that if I were to see more posts or ads from them, there would be more to entice me to buy their shoes. I also noticed all of their product posts on social media are women's shoes, but since they also sell kids' and men's shoes, it may benefit them to show some of those, too. Personally I buy way more shoes for my kids than I do myself!
