Discussion Topic This week we are learning about the duty of confidentiality. Consider the following scenario: Attorney Brown has a client facing charges of capital murder in a case where two young girls have been missing for six months and are presumed dead. The client has agreed to plead guilty and get a life sentence. As part of the plea deal, he has to tell the court what happened to the girls. He confesses to murdering them, but refuses to disclose where their bodies are. He says, in open court, that he's told his lawyer where they are but didn't give Brown permission to disclose. What should the lawyer do and why? Cite the appropriate Model Rule or Indiana Rule. Is the lawyer's responsibility under the Rules appropriate? Is it what should happen? Why or why not? .
