I have always struggled with the idea of being happy, to the point that I am not even truly sure I understand the concept. Yes, I aware of how dark that sounds, but it has been my normal for many years. I grew up in an emotionally abusive home, and was never really able to find my footing. and every time I think it might be looking good, something bad happens and then, here comes the depression again. I do like the idea of what she was talking about, and when I get more free time, which in and of itself is a laughable matter, wouldn't mind looking up the course to enroll in it, so I might be able to get some pointers.
personally for my life, I struggle with most of them on a daily basis. I tend to lean more towards introversion( thus the idea of talking to strangers, other than about the weather or some short two sentence conversation is exhausting), because that requisite exhaustion I just mentioned, meditation is also difficult because I am all but certain that I will end up falling asleep. I don't fully understand the 'reduce your choices' option because I tend to crave hyperstimulation( thanks to ADHD) I do have an end goal in mind and can usually stick with it when i really put my mind to it, so that one is in the bag. I am not really big on phone calls, so I keep a text thread open with my close friends and we text every so often as we have time and are not super busy( we all work alot, and one of them is married on top of the busy schedule so its hard to find time to hang like we used to), I really struggle with keeping a diary because I will go for a couple days and then will forget about it because something happened, and then I won't touch it again. Now, the last one is a interesting conundrum. I sleep as much as I can, but yet I don't feel any more rested( and in fact can be even more tired after waking up...try to figure that out) I am contemplating doing a sleep study to figure it out but for now just going to have to take it as it comes.
So my question for all of you is as follows: Which of those different options are your strengths and which are things that you have an opportunity with?\

After watching the 5-minute video, Yale Psychologist Laurie Santos provides an interesting insight into the concept of happiness and how it can be achieved. She speaks of the importance of taking time to appreciate the world around us and to focus ones attention on what truly makes them happy. Santos emphasizes the importance of having a positive outlook, taking time for oneself, and being mindful of how one is interacting with others. I was particularly intrigued by her idea of paying it forward to those that are less fortunate; her suggestion that happiness can come in the form of helping others resonates with me.

I believe that Laurie Santos has very good but simple answers to a happy life. I noticed that my depression gets more worse when I dont do my daily morning routine that consist of majority of what Santos was explaining. I also noticed my mood has gone down because I been so focus on getting good grades in college and forgetting to do my daily gratitude journaling. I do need to work on better sleep hygiene routine. What do you do for proper sleep hygiene/routine at night?
