Juan heads a newly formed information technology team tasked with developing and implementing a new property valuation and taxation enterprise software program for a large urban county. Twenty professionals work on the team. The project began as a typical face-to-face team meeting but a viral pandemic forced employers to require working from home. Consequently, most of the work is now done virtually although the team did have two face-to-face sessions prior to the "work from home" order. Goals were established and work assignments were made by Juan. The County Administrator established the deadline for the delivery. The County Board demands the project be delivered on time.

Team members include some very long term employees and some very new to the organization -- in fact they were hired specifically for this project. But the group has never worked together on a project. The long term employees like their assignments but the newer employees are suspect of the assignments. There is general respect for each other, and they enjoy the idea of being part of a team. However, they have had some difficulty getting off the ground and are overworked and overwhelmed. The team connects via teleconferencing, email, and texts. Most team members have experienced connectivity problems at various times, which sets them further behind in their work. One team member has 500 unread emails because a fellow team member sends copies of emails to all other team members. There is significant Social-Diversity among the team members. Juan is under great pressure to prove that the team can work and deliver the new program on time
