In the video, it is noted that there are many different definitions of big data, mostly due to the fact that it is a hot buzz word at this time. If the issue you are trying to answer is something the relational database currently cannot solve and modifying or enhancing the relational database will also not solve the issue, then you need to explore NoSQL. However, knowing what the problem that needs to be solved is also a huge piece of knowing if NoSQL is the correct answer. As noted in the video, you need to think through the business problem and request from all angles before selecting and building your solution. Although painful up front, without determining the data models and ensuring you are capturing all the business requirements, you will waste time, and may build a solution that is not viable. Once you know that you need to go the NoSQL route and have vetted all of the above, the next step is determining the best NoSQL product to use to solve the identified problem. Based on all the information provided in the video, NoSQL may not always be the best solution, just as the relational database may not always be the best solution
