Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? Why?

I believe that the Justice Department allowed for consolidations in airlines because in doing so, it allowed the airlines to innovate and make improvements on their own. Given that competition between airlines is already intense, allowing airlines to merge/get bought out, they were able to make the necessary changes to keep the industry alive. Some of these changes included the forming of loyalty programs, exclusive lounges, seat/flight/etc upgrades, and other various promotions and perks. Also, by allowing the consolidation of airlines, the Justice Department was able to focus on the safety of airlines, and insure that the airplanes met with FAA regulations.
