RE: Virtualization Benefits Scenarios that typically require the use of virtualization are usually related to work or school. For example for a past Windows class we were required to download a type 2. Vm Ware and install the appropriate Windows version so we all had the same platform to learn from and a far casier option instead of having to buy a brand new Windows system or using a different version of Windows the instructor didn't want. Also in a work environment it would be far cheaper and easier to have a VMM for your company to save money and have fewer servers. Once again it's far easier to have a uniform system for your entire workplace instead of everyone bringing in their own systems or having huge server rooms which require large amounts of upkeep. Finally sometimes it can be used out of curiosity instead of buying a new system you can try out any OS for a cheap price if not for free using a hypervisor
