Classmate 1 Question The act in section 703A mandates that it is unlawful for an employer to fail to hire, refuse to hire, discharge any individual or otherwise discriminate in any other manner against any individual with respect to employment compensation, terms, conditions, or privileges because of race, color, religion, sex, or national origin. This act would allow individuals to file law suits against businesses in case for discrimination. The effect on police departments today is that it has now changed the qualification and requirements to get a certain position, as it can be determined as discrimination based on denying someone a promotion bases on their education scores. I believe that there are more positive impacts then negatives as this act is preventing an unfair or discrimination from happening in the work place. Often times there are many stories where work opportunities are blocked or over worked because of discrimination. As a student I believe this act has its affect, I agree that any assessments are required in order to get a position should be work related and the achieve of a high school diploma shouldnt determine whether or not I am fit for a position.
