Classmate 1 Question: Some schools and school systems use metal detectors and biometric fingerprint scanning to identify authorized students and personnel to enter the building. Schools located in what are considered to be tough inner-city neighborhoods, sometimes have their own police or security department (Johnson & Ortmerier, 2019. p.148). My local high gave out student ID cards to all students. Upon entering into the building, you had to show your ID and pass through metal detectors. Often times this operation was handled by the school safety department in partnership with our local police department. In my area, you can always see NYPD cars parked outside the schools. As the textbook mentioned, these efforts do make the school environment feel institutionalized. Students would have to line up in two different lines, boys line and girls line to enter into the building.

Classmate 2 Question: Contracting services with a security company or local police agency to perform diverse security tasks, such as central alarm monitoring, event security, CCTV surveillance, emergency management. B) The use of emergency notification systems and social networking tools to alert students and staff of security-related issues. For emergencies and other hazardous situations, such as severe weather conditions and shootings. C) The implementation of a proactive and comprehensive anticrime and violence program. This program will include zero-tolerance policies related to violence, sexual assault, alcohol- and drug offenses, and firearms restrictions on campuses.

Classmate 3 Question: Many different types of Security are found in colleges and universities due to sexual assault, theft, homicide, and violent crime. Many kinds of Security are used. One example is the emergency notification system. In case of stormy weather or an accident near campus or on-campus, students are notified to warn them of the event and avoid it. Parking administration, CCTV surveillance, contracting services with a security company or local police. Some security can escort students to their vehicles if the student feels unsafe or take patrol around the campus or hallways.
