Do you agree with my classmate discussion question below.

Classmate Question: Police officers started to form unions in the early 1900s in conjunction with the labor movement that was sparked by the industrial revolution. Due to the history of police officers being underpaid, overworked, and routinely subjected to dysfunctional and dangerous environments the causes of police unionization is to protect their memberships from unfair labor practices. The reasons police unionize are still very much valid today because politics plays a large part in a lot of police departments today and political activity can disrupt police labor-management relations when police management sees the union as having the ability to undermine or modify the changes or reforms desired by management. In my opinion, police unions are necessary because they protect officers from unfair pay, working conditions, and unfair treatment. Police work is already a hard job and officers shouldn't have to worry about treated unfairly.
