The Crisis Management Team (CMT) leader plays an important role when it comes to a crisis (FitzGerald et.al, 2017). Some of the characteristic and personal attributes a CMT must have to form an effective CMT is organizational skills, clear and concise communication skills, shows integrity and focuses on a team approach system when formulating and maintaining the CMT. Communication and organizational skills are essential because in a crisis, the CMT has present a plan and integrate processes. Integrity is a key attribute of a CMT leader, and teams should do so because it demonstrates an ethical compass and consistently exhibits ethical behavior. The crisis management team will need flexibility and consistency to ensure efficiencies. Building a solid CMT requires people who have experience with risk and recovery programs, and a group that performs training and exercises (FitzGerald et al, 2017). Having the right CMT leader will portray the type of team that is selected. Once CMT leaders have appointed a person to respond to a crisis, that person has the responsibility to keep everyone on the same page.
