Do you see any value to obtaining Project Managment certifications such as the Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM) or Project Management Professional (PMP)? Why or why not?

I think there's obviously value when furthering yourself in your career, whether it be from an educational standpoint or through garnered experience. Although you can (and many) successfully manage projects without the certification, the certification process helps to set you apart from your colleagues. Earning the certification provides an endorsement that you've been exposed to leadership and motivational skills and tactics to command a team, can effectively navigate various situational circumstances and can guide a project to fruition while staying within budgetary confinements and timeline restrictions. Obtaining the certification can boost one's salary-for PMP holders the average is 32% higher in the U.S. (and 16% higher globally) than those without certification. While we're all involved in the healthcare realm, the certifications translate to really any corporate environment, whether small or large scale. Moving forward, I think employers are going to be more apt to look at these additional certifications in terms of continuing education by means of reimbursement for the coursework/exam process. While they're geared towards those in the project management profession, they're helpful for any member of middle management or in a SLT capacity.
