Double-click the Orders data sheet. Click Sheet 1. In Tableau, Dimensions are categorical fields that are used to slice the data. Those are non- numerical data types. You cannot do calculations (e.g., add, subtract, etc.) on these data types. In contrast, Measures are metrics, which are numerical data types that may be used for calculations (numbers that will be visualized in Tableau). Drag and drop Sales under Measures into the blank main area of the chart under Rows. This creates a report of all sales (i.e., total or aggregate of all sales). To view sales per region, drag and drop the Region dimension into Columns. To view sales per product category, drag and drop the Product Category dimension into Columns (after Region)
