Baker & Able Co. Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery Case Study

Baker & Able Co. is a US-based marketing business with headquarters located in Denver, CO.

Baker & Able Co has several key systems in addition to its core IT services: an HR system for tracking employees, their development, performance, and payroll; a sales system which handles customer information, customer preferences, orders and fulfillment; a website which provides a majority of the companys marketing and maintains the e-commerce engine for sales; a logistics system which manages the in-bound product and out-bound fulfillment & shipping.

Core IT services include e-mail, collaboration product set which include server side and desktop components, desktop computing utilities, telecommunication services, cell phone services, the databases and systems environment for the business systems (listed above) and the DNS, distribution servers and directory services which control access and routing paths to everything..

Baker & Able Co. has business hours that run 9-5 PM weekdays. While e-commerce information is collected during non-work hours, orders are not confirmed or processed until business hours.

Baker & Able Co. has a data replication and disaster recovery site set up in Phoenix, AZ. The site is managed by a third party and the disaster recovery plan is exercised annually. Data is replicated daily for the sales system at off hours and weekly for all other systems.
