For more information on this, go to page 81 (Dess, 9th) in your text. You will note that the authors of the text present the VRIO framework as the resource-based view of the firm. Both are based off the same framework, the resource-based view of the firm (RBV), but they tweak it just a little. Essentially its the same stuff.

2. Select three of the scenarios and identify which of the nine activities it addresses. See pages 72 80 (Dess, 9th) in your text for guidance

3. As you have noticed there are some similarities and differences between the Value Chain and the VRIO analyses. Please describe the relationship between the two processes. In other words, why would managers want to go through both analyses?
