Dr. Parikh and his family had a discussion on the future of PK Hospitals. They realized that instead of setting up another hospital in Udaipur. their patients would be better serviced by providing primary healthcare in their villages. They then hired a digital consultant with knowledge of the Indian healthcare provider industry to help them build and implement a digital strategy. Based on the advice received from the consultant, they decided to roll out their digital plan in phases. Phase 1 was focused on making the experience of walk-in patients better. PK Hospitals transitioned from its legacy software to an integrated cloud-based hospital and patient management system. This system was also integrated into its billing and accounting platforms. With this implementation, the hospital managed to get a single view of a patient across all their interactions with the hospital. The system features were also mobile-enabled and had both a mobile app and an SMS-based push notification for patients who di not have smartphones or were in remote areas with limited data coverage. Through these features, patients can schedule and manage appointments as well as receive basic reports and prescriptions. As the local pharmacies were not digitally transformed, the app was not integrated with pharmacies. Instead, patients could show their prescription on their phone and purchase medication. Pre-scheduling appointments led to a dramatic decrease in wait times and increased utilization of available doctor time. This, in-turn, increased the capacity of the hospital. In Phase 2. PK extended its services to non-Udaipur locations. This was done through a combination of voice and video conferencing. The service included triage between doctors at the hospital, local healthcare workers and primary healthcare centers. This service reduced the need for patients to travel to Udaipur for ailments that did not require them to do so. in the next phase, PK decided to implement Al technologies to analyze the vast patient data and to develop customized preventive healthcare strategies. The hospital also wanted to explore robotics for surgery and prosthetics. As the 5G roll-out is still some time away. PK decided not to venture into remote surgery and radiology at this stage. Q- As a digital consultant how will you go about the Business-IT alignment (IT strategy synchronization) as per the information mentioned in the case?
