Question: draw the diagram to depict the impact Project Task Data: Task Duration in days Predecessor task(s) A 10 None B 12 A C 8 B
draw the diagram to depict the impact Project Task Data:
| Task | Duration in days | Predecessor task(s) |
| A | 10 | None |
| B | 12 | A |
| C | 8 | B |
| D | 4 | B |
| E | 8 | C |
| F | 6 | C, D |
| G | 4 | E, F |
| H | 8 | F |
| I | 6 | G, H |
| J | 12 | E |
| K | 10 | H |
| L | 10 | I, J, K |
Part I. Develop a precedence (PERT) diagram.
Using the data presented in the table above, develop a precedence diagram which depicts both early start and finish days as well as late start and finish days. (Hint use landscape orientation if using software to create the chart.) Also - calculate slack time for each task.
Use the following diagramming format for each task.
| ES | Duration | EF |
| Task ID | ||
| LS | Slack | LF |
Use arrows to show predecessor/successor task relationships.
Part II. Answer the following questions.
explain more for question 4 -5, 6, 7
4. Which task(s) would be good candidates to assign to more junior team members? Why?
The task that could be assigned to junior team members are those tasks that have slack or buffer available. When buffers is heled back in completion, it wont hold back the main completion time of the project. The tasks are listed as: D, E, G, I, and J.
5. If task G takes 6 days to complete (but all other task durations stay the same), what would the impact on the projects end date be?
If task time of G becomes 6 days instead of 4 days, there wont be any difference in completion time of the project. Although G is not on the critical path, and has a slack/buffer of 6 days, adding more 2 days to finish the task, will not end up holding the project.
6. If task E finishes in 6 days, (but all other task durations stay the same) what would the impact on the projects end date be?
If task E were to finish in 6 days and not 8, there wont be any change in total completion of project. Task E is not on critical path and therefore has a slack/buffer of 6 days, and reduction in 2 days is needed to finish the task. This again will not result in reduction of completion of the project.
7. If the project sponsor wants the overall project schedule shortened by 5 days, what would you do to condense the schedule?
The project is to be reduced in 5 days, and the activity time of tasks in critical path can be reduced. They are: A, B, C, F, H, K, and L. Although cost is a big factor in reducing activity times for these tasks not given, the any given task can be selected for reduction of activity time.
