During a recent integrated product team $($IPT$)$ meeting with the operations department, the operations manager

mentions that they have received the results from a recent random anonymous survey in which the company is

looking to examine call outs as a part of a broader continuous improvement project within the company.

An un$-$planned$/$un$-$allocated call out is described by the company as a situation where a person intended to work on

the production floor "calls out" but more importantly productivity is impacted because the station has no one to work

on the process area causing delays in production.

The company believes that this has improved but has not been historically tracking this at the level necessary to

understand the trends, so the IPT was formed to work these and other issues identified by a Quality Management

System auditor from one of the company's core customers.

The team has been implementing process improvement initiatives throughout the company and is comparing their

expected results to the recently conducted study.

The study identified that in a recent random survey of $1499$ employees only $51$ said they would have no issue with

making unplanned call outs in the performance period. The team is interested to see how this compares to the last

data from a year ago in which records of $16$ of $797$ randomly selected employees were found to have called out within

the same performance period.

After some discussion, the operations group looks to you as the industrial engineering lead and asks you how you

would evaluate this and what conclusions they can draw from this and what recommendations you suggest as a result.
