The Essay must identify the following sentencing goals: Punishment/ Retribution Deterrence Incapacitation Rehabilitation Restitution Students will describe the elements and distinguishing factors of each individual goal. Students will prepare the essay in a manner acceptable for college level work;. The Essay should be 1 to 2 pages in length (approximately 250- 500 words). Identification of the Sentencing Goals Identifies the five (5) sentencing goals. Punishment/ Retribution Deterrence Incapacitation Rehabilitation Restitution Describes the elements and distinguishing factors of each individual goal. Essay Length, Organization and Conclusion - 15% Content is logically organized and sequenced. Content flows from one concept to the next concept Conclusion is supported by the data and information presented in essay.
