Assignment #1A: Firefighters

After successfully completing this assignment, you will be able to:

Design and create tables within a database

Establish relationships between tables

Define fields and their properties within a table

Establish edit masks and data validation for fields

Determine if a field is required to be entered

In groups of 2, Design and create a database that will provide the following information:

1. A city needs to track its emergency calls for the fire department.

2. The city has multiple fire stations with many staff at each station.

3. Stations have many vehicles and many firefighters

4. Vehicles have a "home" station

5. Firefighters have a "home" station

6. Calls track the vehicles and firefighters used

7. Calls track the category of the call (fire, rescue, resuscitation, etc)

8. Calls track the location, time dispatched and time call completed.

9. Calls track who called in the emergency, the time, their phone number and their address

10. Each firefighter has a unique Employee Id, and is paid based upon his/her Rank

11. Each vehicle is tracked by its Vehicle Id Number

12. More than 1 vehicle can be sent to the same call

13. Many firefighters can be sent to the same call

14. Service records are kept for each vehicle

15. Every 3 months a major service must take place for all vehicles

16. Vehicles are categorized by type (pumper, ladder, boat, rescue, utility)

17. Injuries are recorded for all personnel
