1. The chief psychologist at a state prison has developed a rehabilitation program for inmates convicted of violent crimes against females. All the prisoners have been rated on the frequency of their attendance at sessions (the program is voluntary) and have completed a battery of tests that measures their level of hostile and aggressive feelings towards females. A measure of association for these variables (attendance at the rehabilitation program and hostile and aggressive feelings towards females) generated a gamma of -0.72.
   • Characterize the relationship in terms of the existence, strength, and pattern or direction of the relationship.
2. To further test the nature of the association between attendance at the program and hostility towards women, the investigator controlled for the age of the inmates (younger vs older inmates). The results of the analysis are presented below:
