Below the clay layer is an impermeable rock layer as shown in Figure 1. The ground water table is at the top of the sand layer. The parameters for all the layers are given in the Figure 1. In order to obtain the strength parameters of the clay layer, three direct shear tests were conducted on clay sample, 10 cm x 10 cm x 3 cm taken from point A shown in the figure. The results of the conducted tests are given in the table below. Using the test results , determine strength parameters of the clay sample.
