The National Academic of Engineering (NAE) has identified the Grand Challenges for Engineering in the 21st century. Their 14 game-changing goals (grand challenges) for improving life in our society, announced in 2008, fall into four cross-cutting themes: SUSTAINABILITY, HEALTH, SECURITY, and JOY OF LIVING.
