ENGU 355 Essay 1 Due date: 20th June 2025 Write a 5-paragraph Essay on the topic of "Heroes." The essay will be in MLA formatting, which we will cover in class. The essay should be made up of an introduction paragraph, 3 body paragraphs and a conclusion paragraph. We will work on essay structure and what an introduction and conclusion paragraph should look like The essay can include the summary paragraph you will have already written, as well as your rewritten paragraph on "heroes". The idea behind the essay is to expand on those paragraphs you've already worked on and further develop them into a longer piece of writing, while practicing essay structuring. You can either use them as one or two of your paragraphs and then add to them or use them as a starting point for the paragraphs you write on the topic. Options include: Expanding on your original paragraph and adding other ideas to it, developing other related paragraphs on the topic Or try splitting up the points you made in your hero paragraph to create two or more paragraphs if you have enough detail to talk about, Or writing an analysis of the summary paragraph to include in your essay. This would allow you to approach this essay as a Response Style Essay. You will also be adding in research to support your ideas. As well as the article from the summary, I will be providing a series of other potential resources to use as references as well. You will be required to reference at least 3 of the readings/resources provided to you in your essay, or alternatively you can use readings that you find through your own study. A rough draft will be due no later than June 13th This is worth 10% of your final grade.
