Question:

1. In the past, Universities throughout Nova Scotia have joined together to raise thousands of dollars for "Giving Tuesday". Dalhousie, Saint Mary's, Mount Saint Vincent, the Atlantic School of Theology, NSCAD and the University of King's College were among nine schools that raised $165,000 for student-led food security programs.

It was hoped the funds could be used to expand the hours of operation for food banks, add more items to food boxes and give more of them out.

"This generous support meant that we will be able to increase food security for students throughout this year and beyond," said Isa Wright, vice president of finance and operations for the Dalhousie Student Union, in a news release.

"It also shows students that there is a community of alumni, friends and other supporters who want to see us succeed. This kind of encouragement really helps us to focus on our goals, and we are deeply grateful."

Dal's president and vice-chancellor says this province-wide initiative shows the true spirit of Nova Scotia.

"I am so proud of the way Nova Scotia's universities worked together to provide assistance to students during this challenging time."
