Ethics(from the dictionary)- values relating to human conduct, with respect to the rightness and wrongness of certain actions and to the goodness and badness of the motives and ends of such actions During the same trip to Belize I mentioned, I found myself seated next to a recent graduate of MIT who majored in computer science. She had a great job but then was asked to use some of the new technology in a manner that went against her ethics. She quit that job. She had a foundation of ethics that gave her direction. I put a lot of material into my remarks and not always in a neat orderly way. Life is not like that either. The current, bc and future state of technology is and will be messy and convoluted. All of us need an ethical foundation from which to give shape and direction to our lives. I am asking you to share with me your ethical foundation. In at least two pages, double spaced, and not more than three, describe yours with personal examples of how it directs you to either stay where you are or quit and move on to something new as this young woman did. Ethics lie outside of technology but will be lived out in the midst of technology. I look forward to hearing about your ethics.
