Evaluating the Risk Assessment and Hazard Mitigation Plan

After completing the assigned reading, select one of the three hazards facing New York City discussed in this unit (earthquakes, high winds, winter weather). Discuss the risks and consequences specific to the selected hazard. Apply these to each of the components of effective risk assessment methods discussed previously in the course. Finally, discuss the efforts taken by New York City officials to manage or mitigate those risks. Support your discussion with current examples specific to emergency management efforts in the United States and citations from the assigned reading and additional scholarly sources.
